This month we'll like to put the light on the new inbound SMS option. Then we'll see how to install two MailGateway in a Lotus Notes environnement. And finally the usual offer and tip!

Receive SMS
News
The last version of FaxStar Advanced Server add the possibility to receive SMS. In the past, if you had a GSM modem, a SIM card and a subscription with any mobile operator, you were able to send SMS using FaxStar Advanced Server from any source (AS/400, Unix, Windows, Email...).
Now it becomes possible to receive SMS!
When FaxStar Advanced Server receives a SMS:
- it sends an email with the message content and some transfert details,
et/ou
- it store a text file into a network or local folder.
With this new module you can image to design applications that are wating for new SMS. For instance, you can design an application that looks for keyword "Order XXX" in received SMS in order to the order detail to the corresponding customer.
Deal with SMS, in and out, is a symbol of modernity and your customers and providers will see that immediately!

MailGateway for Lotus Notes
Two MailGateways
If you own a Lotus Notes server you probably know that you can send fax using FaxStar from you email clients. All you have to do is send an email (with attachments like .doc, .xls, .pdf ...) using the format fax_number@FAX. The email is sent to your Domino server which will transfer this email to the FaxStar server. This is called "MailGateway".
It can be interesting to own two FaxStar server with a MailGateway installed on each and both linked with the "@FAX" foreign domain.You'll then be able to:
- load the charge between the two FaxStar,
- and if a machine goes down, the other machine is still alive and can deal with the whole traffic.

Send emails with the image directly in the mailbody
With FaxStar Advanced Server, when you send by email a spooled filed coming from your applications, those are converted into images (TIF or PDF) and add as attachment to the email.
You can ask FaxStar to directly insert the image into the mailbody.
All you have to do is to add the CDOFLAGS Dword key to 1 in HKLM/Software/Sepe Inc./Catalina/Config/, then add the **MAILFORMAT JPEG25 command in your spooled files.
Your spooled files will be converted into JPEG images and directly added into the mailbody.
Note that you can use the following commands: **MAILFORMAT JPEG25, **MAILFORMAT JPEG50, **MAILFORMAT JPEG75 or **MAILFORMAT JPEG100 to define the image size.
