Line quality and fax sending
What can we do?
It often happens that the phone line quality at some customer's place is very poor, and thus the fax sending is bad too.
Most of time this happens just after they change their phone providers and/or their equipement. There are several causes for the bad quality: Voice over IP, new land line...
Of course FaxStar is able to resend automatically a fax, but when the phone line is too bad, this does not really help!
If we can't deal with the causes, we can be smart by changing the dial speed. Imagine your phone line like an highway, if the road is damaged you'd better drive slowly.
So, if you expect some regular and intensive errors, please contact our support in order they tune your fax system!

Evolutions
Our traffic follow up manager for FaxStar, Traffic Manager, continues to grow up. We're adding two new options.
The first one will give you the possibility to "mark" a fax in the traffic. For instance, if you are two or more to follow up the same incoming fax traffic, it can be interesting to tell to others than you have seen this fax and currently working on it. Just press the "mark" button, and turn the fax status into a "read/unread" mode.
A marked fax will be easily remarkable since the entry is bold and the owner is colored in blue. You can also use the filters to easily get only the read or unread faxes.
The second evolution is the adding of rules automatically executed when a fax is received or sent. Those rules, for a user or a user group, can for instance automatically send by email the received fax to a recipient list.

Convert CONFIRM into MCONFIRM
If you have a recent version of FaxStar Advanced Server installed and use the **CONFIRM command to identify the fax owner, it's possible to ask FaxStar to automatically convert ths command into a **MCONFIRM command for an email acknowledgment.
To do so, create a table/database accessible through ODBC containing at least 2 fields: the "names" as used in the **CONFIRM command and the "email addresses" of those names.
Then create the CONFIRM value without data (REG_SZ) in HKLM/Software/Sepe Inc./Catalina/Config/HOST/CMDLU/.
Launch the CfgPrmLu.exe application available in C:\faxstar\ to define the table/database you want to use (Use the "Microsoft Jet" provider if the database has been created via Microsoft Access). Enter the name of the table, the "key" (field "name") and the "value" (field "email addresses"), and validate.
After FaxStar has been restarted, every **CONFIRM found in the table will be converted into a **MCONFIRM and the according email address.
Note that the if the "email address" does not contain any "arobase", FaxStar will use this new name as the new **CONFIRM argument.
