Pretty soon we will release a new user application named "Print2Fax" for FaxStar. We had already say much about this software, but we're so proud of it... ;)

On a totally different topic, we'll talk about Antivirus softwares and the way you should configure them on a FaxStar Server. And of course, we'll give you a small tip for your FaxStar server.

Since Print2Fax, our Windows user application for FaxStar Advanced Server will soon be released, it's time for us to describe the main options.
Print2Fax is a module for FaxStar Advanced Server that will help you to send faxes from your PCs running Windows. Simply print the document you want to fax and a friendy interface appears on your screen. Enter the number you want to fax to, press "Send" and your document is submitted to the FaxStar server. And that's not all! Here is what you can do:

Send a fax to one or more recipients.
Send a fax to a recipient list using a .CSV file.
Local address book. User can manage is own address book.
Shared address book. Users can share an address book stored on the network.
Fax number history. User can easily find the last 10 fax numbers he used.
Possibility to add a cover page with the logo of your company.
Possibility to add a memo on the cover page.
Possibility to add a default memo. User can save default memos with variables.
Possibility to add attachments to the main fax.
Automatic attachments if the user want to always add one or more attachment to the main fax.
No modem required on the user's PC. The documents are transmitted to the FaxStar server using TCP/IP.
Email acknoledgments reception.
Interface with the "Traffic Manager" to display the fax and follow up the status.
Preview before sending.
Save as PDF before sending.
Compatible with FaxStar Host license and FaxStar MailGateway SMTP license.
Unique price for an unlimited number of users.

When we install a FaxStar Server on any machine we always ask to disable the antivirus during the installation process. Most of time it's because of the Fax board drivers. Most of the antivirus does not really like when we're playing with system files. It happens that the drivers' installation is silently blocked by the antivirus, and let us think that everything has been installed well when it's not!
So please, remember to disable your antivirus each time you install or upgrade your FaxStar server.

Ensure also to use only one antivirus application! One some customer's FaxStar machine we've already seen up to 3 antivirus softwares installed! This useless and will just brings you troubles.

Please remember also, if you use a backup software on your FaxStar server to shutdown applications during the backup time. You can find all the usefull commands to stop and start FaxStar automatically in the previous Hoctoplus News.

In the previous Hoctoplus News issue, we did explain how to start and stop the FaxStar application automatically. Do you know that it exists an other command -RESTART that force the FaxStar to end the application has soon as FaxStar is idle and restart automatically. It can be usefull to clean the system memory.

This command only works with the latest FaxStar Advanced Server application. Command usage: runfs.exe -RESTART
