LaserNet and AutoForm
a real case

In less than 2 weeks, we have configure a complete Output Management solution in a huge French company, using LaserNet and Autoform.
Here is how it works :

Here are the objectives we had to follow:

1. Design again the spooled files for more lisibility and nice looking.
2. Send the corresponding documents following different ways, depending some informations contained in the spoold files :
   1. Print on a network printer adding an OMR code.
   2. XML file creation and FTP posting.
   3. Emailed with the corresponding PDF file as output.
   4. Faxed via FaxStar Advanced Server.
   5. Archived on multiple indexes (City, Name, Date, Amount, etc.).
3. Automatically route incoming faxes in network folder for an On Demand archiving.

The whole development is done and it's fully working.

In a while, two others application will be design :

1. A secured Web for some documents they want to give an access,
2. A workflow application for the following of providers invoices.

FaxStar Advanced Server
The Poll Directory function

Since some months, FaxStar did developped a new function named "Poll Directoy". Using this function you did not need to edit your spooled files and add **FAXSTAR command anymore. You simply have to create an other spooled file that containing only the **FAXSTAR command and a link to the files you want to fax.
This file has to be stored in a specific network folder, analysed by the FaxStar Advanced Server.
FaxStar analyse this command text file as a normal spooled file, so you can add commands like these :

• **FAX to define the fax receiver,
• **MAILG to define the mail receiver,
• **SMS to define the SMS receiver,
• Etc.
• and also the attach commands, like XATTACHPDF for PDF files.

There are 2 advantages :

1. You do not need to edit the original spooled files, you can simply export them to PDF files and then only tell FaxStar to send this PDF file,
2. if you have more than one FaxStar server, you can share the outbound traffic and enjoy a real backup solution

The Poll Directory function is already installed on many sites and is giving a real satisfaction.

This month, you'll have until Septembre 2008 the 30th to take advantage of our monthly offer. The offer is based on the PDF Extension for FaxStar. Using this extension you'll be able to fax PDF files and also convert incoming faxes into PDF (for archiving or email routing).

For any order received before 30/09/2008, you'll have a 25% reduction on this extension.

Filter incoming faxes

If you use your FaxStar Advanced Server to receive faxes, you may have encounter the following issues :

1. you receive calls that are not fax calls,
2. you receive incomplete faxes.

In both case you'll receive an message telling you that a fax has been received. You can get rid of those problem using the Windows Registry under HKLM\Software\Sepe Inc.\Catalina\Config\Fax Receive. Add a DWORD key named FilterReceivedFaxes and give the following value:

• 1 = if number of page is more than 0, we check if the file is complete,
• 2 = if the file is not complete, we force the number of page to 0,
• 3 = 1+2 what you should do
